Board Updates February 22, 2004

The current board of the Coalition for Active Living has been without the services of two elected board members due to some resignations.

Prior to filling these vacancies, the board consulted with CAL members to determine what perspectives would be valuable around the table.

The Coalition for Active Living is pleased to announce the appointment of two new board members: Marie-Claire Pierce and Doug Cripps.

Marie-Claire is currently the Community Development Officer for the City of Moncton, New Brunswick and is responsible for sport, recreation and active living. Marie-Claire’s background includes over 25 years at the municipal and provincial levels of government and most recently 13 years as a consultant with the Province of New Brunswick’s Sport, Recreation and Active Living Branch.

Doug is an instructor and fieldwork coordinator with the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies at the University of Regina since 1998.
teaches in the area of therapeutic recreation and adapted physical activity and has responsibility for the faculty’s internship program. Doug also sits on the National Coordinating Committee of the Active Living Alliance for Canadians with a Disability and Chairs the Board of Regents of the Saskatchewan Association of Recreation Professionals.

Welcome Marie-Claire and Doug. We appreciate your willingness to contribute to the important work of the Coalition.
